What is PTFE?
What is PTFE?

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene (a carbon and fluorine synthetic polymer) that has numerous applications.
What is Teflon™?
The commonly known brand name of PTFE-based compositions is Teflon™, which was discovered in 1938, developed by DuPont Co. (the scientist Dr. Roy Plunkett), and administered by Chemours. Thus, Teflon™ is a PTFE. Teflon™ is a trademarked name for PTFE, owned by Chemours.
What’s the difference between Teflon™ and PTFE?
There is NO DIFFERENCE. They are both exactly the same thing, the only difference between them is the name.
What are the raw material for PTFE parts?
When
we deeply study about PTFE, we know that there are raw material provided by
different brands such as Chemours Teflon™ PTFE 807N X, 3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE TF 1641,
and Flontech® FT-1-10 etc… here we just list the most popular raw materials which
BUENO uses. In summary, they are all raw materials for PTFE. In case, the
customers will take deep into and designate the brand for the raw material,
BUENO is willing to check and offer.
How is about PFA?
One of other engineering plastics BUENO works a lot with is PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy Alkanes).
PFA material is one of the fluoropolymers the same as PTFE is. But the PFA's structure is a little different from PTFE's. PFA is copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene (C2F4) and perfluoroethers (C2F3ORf, where Rf is a perfluorinated group such as trifluoromethyl (CF3)) while PTFE's chemical structure is [CF2-CF2]n.
In
the current market, there are different brands for PFA raw material. Just to
name some most common material codes by suppliers which BUENO currently
cooperates, such as Daikin NEOFLON PFA AP-231SH, NEOFLON PFA AP-211SH; 3M™ Dyneon™ PFA 6502UHPZ; Chemours Teflon™ PFA 451HP, Chemours
Teflon™ PFA 440HP.
Basically
PFA's is similar to properties of PTFE. Compared to PTFE, PFA has better
anti-stick properties and higher chemical resistance, at the expense of lesser
scratch resistance.
PFA
is a tough, flexible thermoplastic (the substance can be melted and formed into
shapes that becomes hard, and can then be melted again) that is commonly used
for flexible tubing and fluid processing equipment when chemical resistance,
high purity, and low stiffness are required.
What are common applications of PFA?
Due
to its resistance to strong mineral acids, inorganic bases, and inorganic
oxidizing agents and to most of the organic compounds and their mixtures,
common in the chemical industry, PFA is widely used in automotive fuel tubes,
roofing membranes, semiconductor or wires as these products all have to endure
the most extreme operating conditions.
Semiconductor industry is well-developed in Taiwan including IC (Integrated Circuit) manufacturing, design, and packing, forms a major part of Taiwan's IT (Information Technology) industry. Due to its strong capabilities in OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) wafer manufacturing and a complete industry supply chain. So far, BUENO has mainly served a lot of local customers in the semiconductor-related fields and continued to pay great efforts to expand our business more globally.
